ABOUT
I’m Steve Mandich. I was born in Seattle, I live in Seattle, and the Seattle Mariners are my all-time favorite baseball team. And, ever since his 2001 Major League debut with the Mariners, Ichiro Suzuki has been my all-time favorite baseball player (even after his 2012 trade to the Yankees). This blog has tracked Ichiro’s game-by-game progress since 2011, along with plenty of fun sidelights... Disclaimer: this blog is a labor of love, and is not affiliated with Ichiro Suzuki, the New York Yankees, or Major League Baseball... As of the 2013 season, all times listed are local New York time.Blogroll

Ichiro Pitches for Tongari Corn (Again)
Last year I posted this, but the video has since been removed. So here are a couple other bizarro ’90s commercials for the same product, both featuring a clean-shaven Ichiro and his cohorts beating up on some malevolent corncobs, somehow turning them into the Japanese equivalent of Bugles.

Ichiro on TV: Some Game Show
This looks like one of those things where you have like a minute to run through a supermarket and load up your cart with as much stuff as you can…
Ichiro eats his veggies…
Mmm, eggs…
The doo-rag is unfortunate, and possibly unrelated to the stuff above…
Link.

There’s an Ichiro App for That
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that those of us in the US can get it. Still, this link sheds more light on it, especially if you can read Japanese. And these brief videos offer a demonstration — it looks like an ebook, supplemented with pictures and videos.
The one app I could get from the US iTunes Store is ICHIRO51 Struck Out!, which is a game where you pitch to Ichiro and try to get him out (ideally, Struck Out!). It got boring pretty quickly.
Apparently the Mariners weren’t on board with this…
I looked at Topps Bunt for the iPad, but there’s no Ichiro card on there yet.
Oh, there’s also the iChiro app, which is good if you want to improve your posture.
